This is our first glimpse at the artwork for Frank Miller’s Xerxes. It is a lithograph from Dark Horse for the prequel to the excellent 300 tale of the Spartan warriors.
Xerxes will tell the tale of the Persian king – “They Were 300. He was one.”
The 24″ X 36″ lithograph, drawn by Miller and colored by Dave Stewart, comes in two forms on the Dark Horse site – a $25 regular edition and a $100 limited edition signed by the artist and kept to 100 copies.
There has been talk of a movie sequel to Zack Snyder’s adaption of 300 so with the comic book moving ahead the chances of the film version get that little bit closer.
To be honest I am made up to see a new Frank Miller comic in the works. I think his directorial style works so much better in comic form than it does on the big screen. Yes, I’m talking about The Spirit film.
How do you feel about a prequel to 300? Would you want to see it on the big screen?
