The Sorcerer’s Apprentice sequel will have Excalibur and Chernabog

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is out soon and in a recent Q & A Jay Baruchel mentioned that if it does well there will be a sequel. No surprise there as that’s the way the business works.

What is cool is that Baruchel mentioned what will be in the sequel. AICN had the news.

Baruchel says right now they’re wanting to incorporate another well known bit from the original Fantasia animated movie… this time the dreaded Chernabog, the Satanic mountain that has given children nightmares for 7 decades now.

The next film looks to divide itself between New York and England and will feature Excalibur, a prospect Baruchel is very much looking forward to because he said he worships the John Boorman movie.

I have been looking forward to The Sorcerer’s Apprentice as the posters and trailers have a nice feel to them. Nicolas Cage is also on a bit of a role with memorable performances at the moment.

I also like the fact they are using other elements from Disney’s Fantasia. Seeing a giant sized Chernabog on the big screen will be epic.

The first movie stars Nicolas Cage, Jay Baruchel, Teresa Palmer, Alfred Molina, Monica Bellucci and is directed by Jon Turteltaub.

Due out in the US on 14th July and here in the UK on 9th August.

SWEEEET! Chernabog was so cool in fantasia! and battleing it in Kingdom hearts was a complete shock and one of my fave battles, seeing it in a live action sounds great,….i think i saw a bit of the chernabog’s death summoning sequence near the end of sorcser’s aprentance only morgana failed epically. i thought this movie was gona stink but I loved every bit of it… it needed Yen Sid though.
