Sherlock – Trailer for the new BBC series by Steven Moffat

Check out the trailer for the BBC’s new Sherlock Holmes series. Written by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss and directed by Paul McGuigan (check out the LFF interview with him). Benedict Cumberbatch (Atonement) plays Holmes with Martin Freeman (The Office, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) plays Watson.

It is a 3 parter and the first one is on 9pm from July 25th.

Watson, a doctor, soldier and war hero, is fresh from military service in Afghanistan. A chance encounter brings him into the world of Sherlock Holmes, a loner, detective and genius. The two men couldn’t be more different, but Sherlock’s inspired leaps of intellect, coupled with John’s pragmatism, soon forge an unbreakable alliance.

A woman in pink lies dead in a derelict house, the fourth in a series of impossible suicides. DI Lestrade is the best Scotland Yard has got, but even he knows he can’t compare to the young man who can tell a software designer by his tie or an airline pilot by his thumb.

Sherlock has a unique analytical mind, earning his living and staving off boredom by solving crimes. The weirder and more baffling the better…

Across three thrilling, scary, action-packed and hugely entertaining episodes, Sherlock and John navigate a maze of cryptic clues and lethal killers to get at the truth.

9pm is a bit late, I would of thought they would have put it on around the family doctor who time!

actualy andy, I think he is going for a more gritty and true to life sherlock holmes, something wich I am VERY happy about. so I would expect something more like ‘Jekyl’ and less like ‘Dr who’.

I watched it last night and loved it. Fast-paced, loads of fun and bringing the basics of Holmes back to Sherlock, without all the frilly bits.

Another Sherlock Holmes again?! Well well, the film business is on the right track than :D :D I’m also addicted to the great detective. A real shame the real, classic engilsh gentle-man style doesn’t exist anymore. Sherlock Holmes will always be THE subject to film. Daydreaming on the side of Holmes and Watson feeds my heart and mind more than real life.
