BioShock creator talks about the movie adaption

Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean) had long been attached to direct the adaption of BioShock, but due to various reasons he has stepped down from that position, but will produce it.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Intacto, 28 Weeks Later) will now direct the movie whenever it gets made.

Ken Levine, the creator of the game recently spoke to Chad Duke on DC radio station 106.7

Levine was asked if the film would definitely go ahead “I can’t tell you whether — you know, the movie business is complicated — I can’t tell you whether it’s going to happen for sure or it’s not going to happen for sure,” Levin adds. “But it’s something we are actively discussing, quite actively, and actively working on.”

Levine also spoke about the difficulty of transferring the game to film, in particular the fact the main character does not have much charisma. “You can’t really do that in a movie,” Levin said. “That’s your guy, that’s the guy you are following through so he’s not literally a hand with a gun” and “so he’s actually a person who is going through some sort of progression through his life.”

Levine did say that to make the game work in a film was a “super, super challenge”.

If you could cast anyone in the film who would you choose? What elements and scenes from the game have to be in the movie?
