Some interesting news regarding X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2. We knew David Slade (Twilight Saga: Eclipse) was being considered to direct the sequel. Robert Schwentke (Red, The Time Traveller’s Wife) was also in the running but he has since dropped out. Deadline now have some news that 20th Century Fox are also considering Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain, The Wrestler, Black Swan).
They report that Slade met over the weekend with Jackman on location where he is shooting Real Steel for DreamWorks. Aronofsky has also been talking with Jackman, and they have a good relationship that dates back to The Fountain, when Jackman stepped in after Brad Pitt dropped out.
Because Jackman is Wolverine he has an awful lot of say on the decision. The question is which one should direct the film. On the first movie, directed by Gavin Hood (Tsotsi) there was quite a bit of alledged conflict with the studio who wanted to change things and make it more watchable for kids.
Slade has experience with a big special effects type franchise so the studio will probably go with him. I would love to see Aronofsky do it though just to see what he does with Logan’s adventures in Japan.
Which director would you like to see on the next Wolvie movie?
