We are getting closer and closer to Mega City One. Karl Urban is Judge Dredd. Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine) is writing it (I’ve read a draft of the script and it is extremely faithful to the comic – lots of dark,gritty action and Dredd is pure Dredd). Peter Travis (Vantage Point) is directing. It begins shooting in South Africa soon.

Variety now have the news that Juno’s best friend, Olivia Thirlby, has been cast in the role of Judge Anderson.
In the script I have read Anderson is a rookie Judge and goes on patrol with Dredd in order for him to decide whether she has what it takes to be a proper Judge. They go on a routine call, things go wrong, people die, a block war type scenario begins and he is the Law. Before you ask, they have kept Anderson a telepath so she should eventually become a Psi Judge and release Judge Death.
Thirlby is a good actress and should compliment Urban’s Dredd nicely.
