You never can tell what films actors will go for. Heat Vision are reporting that Michael Caine is in final negotiations to team up with Dwayne Johnson and Josh Hutcherson for “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” New Line’s sequel to “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D.”
Let us not forget that Brendan Fraser was the star of the first film, but he has moved on. Surely that gets alarm bells ringing.
Brad Peyton is directing the movie which is very loosely on Jules Verne’s “The Mysterious Island,” sees Hutcherson reprising his role from the first movie and partnering with Johnson, playing his mom’s boyfriend, on a trip to a mythical island to find his missing grandfather.
Caine is the grandfather, but the part is no cameo. The role will see the actor in action mode, engaging in several chase sequences, including one involving giant bees.
Do you think this sequel could be better than the first film? Has somebody done an inception on Michael Caine for him to get involved or has a made a wise choice?
