Stephen Lang would play Cable of the X-Men

A while back came word that comic book creator, Rob Liefield, would love to see Stephen Lang (Avatar, Public Enemies, Conan the Barbarian) play Cable. Liefield co-created the character for the X-Men comics. The character was a grizzled warrior from the future with a cybernetic arm and a twisted past which would take to long to explain. When handled well, Cable was a great character and had a comic book series with Deadpool for a while.

Lang would be the perfect choice to play Cable.

Screen Rant spoke with Lang at New York Comic Con this past weekend, and the actor revealed that he has his eye on Cable.

“One of [my] boys mentioned to me — he says, ‘Hey pops, they’re talking about you for Cable,’” said Lang. “I said, ‘Who would that be?’ And so he Googled him for me and I saw him and I thought, ‘Oh wow, he’s cool.’”

“I’m there,” he continued when asked if he would play Cable in an “X-Men” film. “Sure, why not. I’d be happy to. You read it all, everything that comes across. And if it makes sense, if it’s a cool character, if it’s a theme you want to explore… sure.”

Of course there is no Cable film in development and no word that the character will crop up in any of the X-Men related movies. At the moment it is just great casting waiting to happen.
