Batman 3 is now The Dark Knight Rises (still can’t get used to that name). Christian Bale is back, Tom Hardy is cast and Christopher Nolan has said The Riddler won’t be in the new film. He is also casting a female lead.
Speculation on who Hardy is playing is all over the internet (I know, I looked) – Bane, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Black Mask, Nightwing have all been mentioned.
If you head over to IMDb they currently have Hardy down to play Det. Harvey Bullock. He is the tough, no-nonsense policeman who was a bit corrupt, but then ended up doing the job properly. He can’t stand Batman and is partnered with Renee Montoya (before she became The Question – long story).
IMDb do state that this is the rumoured role, but for the moment it is a good one. At the end of The Dark Knight, Batman had set himself up as the bad guy for the police to chase after so I could easily see Hardy as the tough cop hunting him down. That would mean great scenes with Gary Oldman’s Gordon and Christian Bale.
It could also mean that the female character Nolan is casting could be Renee Montoya.
Who knows? Well Christopher Nolan and some of the cast will know. Plus the writer, producer, Nolan’s close family. Okay lots of people will know, but I don’t and neither do you so let’s leave it there.
