The Last Cosmonaut – You can help fund this short film

J. Van Auken recently got in touch to tell me of a great sounding short film he is going to make.

Here is what he has to say about the project.

The Last Cosmonaut is the story of the last secretly launched Soviet space pilot in 1958.

His existence has never been acknowledged by the Russian government. Every record of his launch was destroyed. He was last detected by the Torre Bert observatory in February, 1961.

It is believed he now stands as the first and only person to ever leave the solar system.

TLC will be a five minute short film depicting the Cosmonaut’s last moments in orbit. It will be shot in 35mm anamorphic on Russian lenses and cameras. The costumes and props are all accurate replicas.

I hope to raise the remaining half of budget in order to pay for costume rentals, set construction, food, equipment, and transportation. I am putting up the first 50% from personal savings, as I wholly believe in the project and in telling this story. This film is the last project of my college career, and is as ambitious as anything I’ve attempted.
