Typography is an essential element of a movie poster’s design. Choosing the right typeface can make or break a good design; it can reflect a specific era or film genre, can work alongside the style or look & feel of the movie or simply complete a beautifully crafted photographic montage or illustration.
Sometimes, however, studios take the bold decision to run with just a typographic solution, which can be incredibly powerful if done well. I have seen a few movie posters with good .solid typography – some with a little photography thrown in – and here are a few examples.
Enjoy. Don’t forget to share your own.
