Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated model Marisa Miller is all set to join Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges in Universal’s adaptation of the Dark Horse comic book R.I.P.D.
Green Lantern’s Ryan Reynolds will be playing Nick Walker – renamed from Nick Cruz – a police officer killed in the line of duty who is subsequently assigned to the R.I.P.D. – the Rest in Peace Department.
The department is staffed by a team of late police officers and detectives who, as punishment for certain sins in life, are tasked with hunting down demons, fiends, lost souls and other ne’er-do-wells.
Nick must play along with the department while he hunts down the fiend who framed and murdered him in life, his only chance for redemption and ascent.
Robert Schwentke (RED) is directing. Kevin Bacon and Mary Louise Parker are also set to star in the film which is due out in 2013.
Bridges will be playing Reynold’s partner and Parker will be the head of the R.I.P.D.
UPDATE: The dead characters no longer appear as themselves to the living and in the film Miller will be playing Jeff Bridges character. That’s right, the land of the living will see The Dude as a Victoria’s Secrets model.
It gets better. Ryan Reynolds will look like an old Asian man and James Hong will be playing him. Hong was Lo Pan in Big Trouble In Little China. He also starred in Blade Runner amongst many other things.
How cool is that?
Miller appeared in every Sports llustrated Swimsuit issue from 2002 to 2008, with her 2008 cover breaking sales records for the magazine.
