Lars Von Trier tells the press he will no longer be speaking to the press

As you probably know Lars Von Trier got himself in a bit of trouble during the Cannes Film Festival. He was promoting Melancholia and decided to talk about Hitler. What he said led to him being banned from Cannes.

Basically he should have kept his mouth shut and just talked about the film.

Because of the Cannes backlash and the possible breaking of laws, Von Trier has decided that he will no longer speak to the press.

His full statement is below.

Today at 2 pm I was questioned by the Police of North Zealand in connection with charges made by the prosecution of Grasse in France from August 2011 regarding a possible violation of prohibition in French law against justification of war crimes. The investigation covers comments made during the press conference in Cannes in May 2011. Due to these serious accusations I have realized that I do not possess the skills to express myself unequivocally and I have therefore decided from this day forth to refrain from all public statements and interviews.

This is probably the best decision he could have done. It saves him from further trouble and embarrassment plus he will become all the more mysterious.

I fully expect one of those Hitler Downfall clips spoofing this announcement.

What do you think of Lars Von Trier stepping away from the press side of things?
