J J Abrams wanted Benicio Del Toro for the main villain in his Star Trek sequel.
Talks had been proceeding well until last Wednesday when they could not agree over money. That means no Benicio Del Toro going up against Chris Pine and the rest of the crew.
Filming is due to begin soon so Abrams will have to get somebody else on board quickly.
It is hard to make any suggestions as we do not know what character Del Toro was going to be playing. The rumour that it will be Khan keeps cropping up even though Abrams has said that was “not true.”
In the world of Hollywood that does not mean much as Michael Bay said there would be no Megatron in the second Transformers movie and Zach Snyder did say General Zod would not be in Man of Steel before casting Michael Shannon as Zod.
