Tim Burton has been wanting to make a Pinocchio movie for a while. Surprisingly he does not seem to want Johnny Depp involved (still early days though so he may turn up). Instead he would like Robert Downey Jr to play Geppetto.
In this version it appears the focus will be more on Geppetto as he embarks on a quest to reunite with his missing marionette. The well-regarded script is by Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller.
The fact Fuller is involved should mean the story will be good and if Burton does get Downey Jr the change in actor may freshen up his work.
Neither Burton nor Downey has a deal with Warners according to THR, but sources say Burton is keen to direct the film and has begun talks with the studio. Downey Jr also wants to work with Burton but it all depends on his schedule.
