We have Liam Neeson fighting wolves in The Grey and soon there will be another man vs nature film in Red Machine.
James Marsden, Thomas Jane and Billy Bob Thornton are going up against a grizzly bear in the film to be directed by David Heckl (Saw V).
The film follows two estranged brothers (Marsden, Jane) who reconcile on a camping trip with their girlfriends. Once in the remote wilderness, however, things go horribly awry when they are attacked and relentlessly stalked by a horrifying grizzly bear — the Red Machine. Thornton will play a legendary bear expert and hunter.
What’s the betting that Billy Bob gets the drop on the bear, but has overlooked something important giving the bear the opportunity to take him down in a Ghost and the Darkness type way.
“In Red Machine I want to examine the thrill of very real fear,” Hackl said. “An audience is more easily drawn in by a story that they consider plausible and relatable — something that could actually take place in the real world. Just by the premise you know something bad is going to happen.”
