Beat poet Allen Ginsberg was last portrayed on screen by James Franco in Howl.
He will next be played by Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter, The Woman in Black) in Kill Your Darlings which is based on a true story.
The murder of David Kammerer in 1944 draws together the great poets of the beat generation: Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs.
According to IMDB Kerouac will be played by Jack Huston.
Elizabeth Olsen has also been cast in the John Krokidas directed film.
Fair play to Radcliffe as, although not my first choice for Ginsberg, he is making some good choices to avoid being typecast as a Harry Potter type.
“Any criticism of me not looking right for the part – well, James Franco is way too good-looking to play Allen Ginsberg,” he told the BBC. As for those expecting to see a bearded Radcliffe you will be disappointed as Ginsberg was only 19 during the events of the film.
