UPDATED: The BAFTA 2012 Winners are… (now with video)

BAFTA

UPDATED: The BAFTA awards have now been announced and you can see the full list below.

The Artist is the big winner with seven awards – Best Film, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Original Music and Best Costume Design. A pity Gary Oldman did not win best actor. Good to see Senna winning best Documentary and Paddy Considine winning Outstanding Debut for directing Tyrannosaur.

Meryl Streep won Best Actress but lost a show (you can see the video of that below).

Peter Straughan gave the most heartbreaking acceptance speech for best Adapted Screenplay as his wife and co-writer Bridget O’Connor had recently passed away.

What do you think of the winners? Any surprises?

You can see the full list of nominees here. Keep checking back for updates.

I will also add the acceptance speeches as and when they become available.

Don’t forget that you can still vote in the 1st Live for Films Movie Awards.
