Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor is directing Thor 2 which is due to begin filming this July. Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor. Also returning are Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins. I imagine Tom Hiddleston will also be back as Loki. Mads Mikkelsen is in negotiations to play another, as yet unnamed, villain.
During the casting of the first Thor movie Zachary Levi (Chuck) was approached for the part of Fandral, one of the Warriors Three. Due to scheduling conflicts he was unable to take the role. The part went to Josh Dallas.
In a strange twist of fate it appears their situations may now be reversed. Dallas stars in Once Upon A Time and it appears he will not be able to do Thor 2 because of that.
According to THR, Marvel Studios want Levi for the role. Negotiations have not yet begun, according to sources but an offer is imminent.
As well as Mads Mikkelsen there are continued rumours that the Enchantress character, aka Amora will also be present in the sequel. This green glad temptress would be a welcome addition to the Marvel cineverse, but who could play her?
Thor himself has spoken as Chris Hemsworth would like to see his Snow White and the Huntsman costar, Charlize Theron, in the role.
“I don’t know much at all but it sounds interesting,” Chris Hemsworth told MTV Splash Page (via CBM) when asked for his thoughts on the recent Enchantress rumours. “I’m not playing the usual, sidestepping that we normally have to do, I haven’t read a script. They have a bunch of different ideas, but that sounds interesting.” He was then told about the wish to see Charlize Theron in the role “Oh right. Well she certainly plays a pretty intimidating villain, I think she’d be awesome but I think she’s tied up in 20 other films. I think she’s going on to ‘Mad Max’ next. [But] you never know. Fingers crossed!
