"Death has come to your little town, sheriff.”

Peter Jackson would love to direct a Doctor Who episode

Peter Jackson is busy promoting and working on The Hobbit. However, he recently said that he would love to have a go at directing Doctor Who.

How did this come about? Turns out the current Doctor, Matt Smith, got the ball rolling while speaking to the Waikato Times.

”I think it would be an absolutely wonderful place to film Doctor Who,”

”I’m told it’s glorious. I’m told it’s quite similar to England. ”

Let’s get Peter Jackson to direct one and go and make it in New Zealand. I would love to, I will campaign endlessly to come over and film there,”

”There’s clearly a great film industry out there. It’s something I would be very interested in it’s just whether we can persuade the producers to fly us all over.”

Jackson’s response when he heard this?

”I’m a huge Dr Who fan, and I think Matt’s fantastic. Just name a time and place, and I’ll be there!”

As you probably know the seventh Doctor, Sylvester McCoy, is in The Hobbit as Radagast The Brown. Plus Jackson owns McCoy’s costume from the show so he is a definite Whovian.

They have filmed some episodes of Doctor Who over in the US, but not sure if the BBC budget would stretch to New Zealand and Peter Jackson. At the very least I applaud Matt Smith trying to wangle a free trip to New Zealand. It would be amazing to see Jackson direct and episode or two. If he did I wonder what monsters he would use?

How would you feel about Peter Jackson directing Doctor Who if the opportunity arose?
