Check this out. The guys over at The Daily Blam! have posted a photo of Hugh Jackman from the new Wolverine film which shows some nasty looking “Bone Claws”. Director James Mangold talks about the movie continuity and its place with the existing films after the image below.
“Where this film sits in the universe of the [other X-Men] films is after them all,” said director James Mangold, in a recent interview with Empire magazine. “Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there’s a tremendous sense of isolation for him.”
“I wanted to be able to tell the story without the burden of handing it off to a film that already exists and having to conform to it,” explained Mangold, about the parts of the film that will take place outside of all previous X-film continuity. “The ideas of immortality reign very heavily in this story and the burden of immortality weighs heavily on Logan. For me that’s such an interesting part of Logan’s character that is nearly impossible to explore if you have a kind of league or team movie.”
Currently filming in Australia and Japan, The Wolverine is directed by James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) off a screenplay by Christopher McQuarrie and Mark Bomback.
