A month or two ago a rumour surfaced that Guillermo del Toro was working on a film called, at the time, Heaven Sent. It was said to be based on the Justice League Dark comic which featured DC Comic’s supernatural type characters – Constantine, Deadman, Zatanna.
Del Toro initially denied it although he said he would love to do something like that.
I shared my thoughts on why it could be a great thing for DC and Warner Bros to do.
It all looked like it was wishful thinking.
That is until IGN spoke to Guillermo del Toro who said that the film is going ahead. They have a writer and he also mentions what characters we may be seeing in the film.
The film, which currently has the working title of Dark Universe, will feature Swamp Thing, John Constantine, Deadman, Etrigan, Specter, Zatana and Zatara. Fingers crossed it makes it to the big screen.
“I’m working on it,” said Del Toro. “I’m writing the outline and we’re already in talks with a writer. A very, very good writer. People are probably going to be happy with who we have chosen. He accepted. I’ve been courting this writer, who I think is the perfect guy for this job. We’re doing it. Hopefully it will happen.”
“The movement for this happened before The Avengers. They were already galvanized to launch ‘Justice League’ and they were galvanized to make their universe cohesive… They are really, really, with ‘Superman’, very, very confident with what they have. They are now feeling they have two pillars. Batman and Superman… There’s a foundation that now they can build on.”
