We already know that Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel has made a few changes to characters. Perry White was always a white guy in the comics, but Laurence Fishburne is playing him in the film. No problem with that as it makes no difference to the character and Fishburne is a great actor.

However, it appears that they may have changed Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen, into Jenny Olsen.

This comes from IMDB which lists Rebecca Buller as playing Jenny Olsen. You can see her in the trailer running with Perry White (the image above shows it).

I am a comic book fan, but don’t have a major problem with most changes they do when it comes to comic book movies. Yet this one does seem a little odd and I just cannot see why they would do it. Jimmy has always been a regular in all iterations of Superman and, as far as I am aware the character has always been male.

Maybe they have made the character female to set up some kind of romantic subplot between Jenny and Clark Kent? It just seems to have been done for the hell of it at the moment. Hopefully there will be a reason for it. It is strange that Buller also looks more like the comic book version of Lois Lane than Amy Adams does.

If it is true, what are your thoughts on Jimmy now being Jenny?
