Needless to say there will be spoilers ahead.
Robert Downey Jr recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about Iron Man 3. He mentioned details of a particular scene and how Don Cheadle’s character Rhodey/War Machine’s fits into things.
Rhodey is much more in the dead center of things. He’s much more dynamic. We’ve made this decision that while Tony is a technical guy, he’s not really a trained guy. There’s a lot of fun to be had with Don because he’s really good with hardware and he’s a martial artist, so it’s been really fun exploiting this possibility of Tony having moments like the one in Avengers, like the one with Cap where he decides, “Oh screw it, he probably knows what he’s doing.” So there’s a lot of that and a lot more fun and a lot more depth to Rhodey this time around.
He also spoke about The Avengers and whether or not they would be seen in the Shane Black directed sequel.
Again, possible spoilers ahead.
The wording of that last part is a little strange and does make me think he could well be referencing the Guardians of the Galaxy. Does this mean there will be some mention or sight of them in the, now traditional, post credits scene?
Latino Review seem to think so as they have posted the following:
“According to sources, at the end of Iron Man 3, Tony actually does go up into space to hook up with the Guardians of The Galaxy where I also hear he appears at the end of that movie as well.”
Funko’s Pop! Vinyl figure below may also confirm this.
Tie that into the fact that Iron Man is also featuring in the new Guardians of the Galaxy comic and we have ourselves a definite possibility.
Iron Man 3 is out on 3rd May 2013.
