Duncan Jones brought us the wonderful Moon and intriguing Source Code. He is going up in budget as he is going to direct Warcraft, Legendary Pictures’ live-action adaptation of Blizzard Entertainment’s massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG).

Moon cost about $1 million to make, Source Code was about $35 million and, according to THR, Warcraft is rumoured to have a budget of $100 million.

Sam Raimi had been attached to the project for a while, but that fell through. Now it appears Legendary are trying to get the film made for a 2015 release date.

The Tracking Board also mention that Johnny Depp may be involved.

Warner Bros. may be making strides in the right direction with its long gestating WARCRAFT film, as there is interest for Johnny Depp to star.

Note it is just an interest for him to star. There are no offers on the table as yet.

I have never played World of Warcraft as I know it would end up sucking away all my time. The whole setting is my kind of thing and I hope a film does the game justice. The fact Jones is directing gives me a good feeling as he is an avid gamer and I have enjoyed his previous films.

What are your thoughts on the Warcraft film? What does it need to include to be true to the game?
