Lucas says Ford, Hamill and Fisher are already signed on for Star Wars

Hamill,-Fisher-&-FordThere has been lots of news about Star Wars Episode 7 and it is going to keep on coming. We heard Harrison Ford was going to do it, Mark Hamill said he was in talks and Carrie Fisher recently said she was in it (although her PR people said she was joking).

There has been no official announcement on who will be returning or what the plot will be about.

In a recent interview with Businessweek, George Lucas said that the trio are “pretty much” signed on.

We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them. I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.

We already knew that Lucas had spoken to them and this does seem to confirm that the film will feature Han, Luke and Leia in some way.

He also spoke about what involvement he had with the new films now that Disney own LucasFilm.

I mostly say, ‘You can’t do this. You can do that. You know, ‘The cars don’t have wheels. They fly with antigravity.’ There’s a million little pieces. Or I can say, ‘He doesn’t have the power to do that, or he has to do this.’ I know all that stuff.
