Sherlock – Series 3 begins filming next week

Sherlock_series_3_read_throughI believe in Sherlock Holmes!

Good news for all the Sherlock and Benedict Cumberbatch fans out there. Today saw the first read-through for series 3 (that’s where the photo was taken) and shooting begins next Monday.

Paul McGuigan will not be returning to direct any episodes for the new series. He had previously directed four out of six episodes from the last two series – A Study In Pink, The great Game, A Scandal In Belgravia and The Hounds Of The Baskerville.

The reason he will not be back is because he is working on Frankenstein for 20th Century Fox and another project with Cumberbatch – The Man Who, about the life of Beatles manager Brian Epstein according to Deadline.

Jeremy Lovering will direct the first episode of the new BBC series. Colm McCarthy will direct another. No word yet on who will direct the third one.

However, we will have to wait until Autumn to see Benedict and Martin Freeman on TV again.

I wonder what Sherlock Holmes stories they will best the new series on? How do you think Sherlock survived?
