Working Title has director Stephen Frears directing Ben Foster as the champion cyclist, from a drama scripted by John Hodge (Trainspotting).
Paramount Pictures also have a film in development with Bad Robot partners JJ Abrams and Bryan Burk, based on Cycle Of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong, a book by New York Times sportswriter Juliet Macur. Bradley Cooper had been attached to this, but it appears he is involved with yet another project.
Cooper is on board with Warner Bros. This has a script written by Scott Z. Burns (Side Effects). Cooper will produce the film along with Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner.
If scheduling allows it, Cooper should also be starring as Armstrong in the film.
This is not the first time Hollywood have made movies at the same time dealing with the same subject. It remains to be seen which one will win at the box office. Both Foster and Cooper are excellent actors so it will all depend on the script.
