Guardians of the Galaxy – News, rumours and set photos

guardiansFilming of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy is well underway.

We have lots of news on the voice of Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Ronan the Accuser and photos of Michael Rooker as a blue skinned Yondu.

First up the news on Rocket Raccoon – The fan favourite character and best pal of Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) is great in the comic and promises to be amazing in the film. Bradley Cooper is in early discussions to voice Rocket Raccoon for Marvel cinematic universe newcomer “Guardians of the Galaxy,” a person familiar with the project told TheWrap.

An offer is in place and talks are ongoing, though no deal has been made. “Guardians” would be Cooper’s first time voicing an animated character.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been talking about different aspects of the film including how the team got together.

“They are an unlikely band. It’s pure circumstance that brings them all together throughout the course of the movie. Rocket has been genetically and mechanically altered, he’s an experiment from one part of the galaxy. Groot is a species that happens to look like trees look, and is quite communicative if you can understand the different inflections in the way he says, “I am Groot.”

Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) left Earth in the mid’80s, but when we meet back up with him he’s very much a citizen of the universe. Drax (Dave Bautista) has one goal and one goal only, which is to kill Ronan because of a past tragedy. When we meet Gamora (Zoe Saldana), she’s a bad guy working with Ronan (Lee Pace) and Nebula (Karen (Gillan) and Korath (Djimon Hounsou), and by extension for Thanos.

Gamora doesn’t necessarily like doing that anymore, and tries to find a new path for herself. But she has a reputation as the deadliest woman in the galaxy that people aren’t greeting her with open arms.[/quote]

rocketraccoon_largeFeige also went on to confirm that the film does take place during the rest of Marvel’s Phase 2 films – Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The general answer is yes. It’s not exactly revealed what year or month it is in relation to the other Phase Two films. But yes, it’s the same time.

He also added that, while Thanos is the big bad, it will be Ronan the Accuser who is the main villain of the film.

Ronan The Accuser is very much the main bad guy. And Thanos is lurking above it all. You will learn more about Thanos in Guardians, for sure. Certainly you’ll get more than the one turn around and smirk. You’ll get much more than that!

It just amazes me that we will be seeing Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Thanos, Ronan and the rest on the big screen. Plus we also have Benicio Del Toro and Glenn Close in the film.

Oh, and here is Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) on set as the blue skinned Yondu (who was a character in the original Guardians of the Galaxy team).
