If you are already suffering from lack of Breaking Bad you will be able to relive it all again, but this time it will be in Spanish.
The Colombian series from Sony Pictures Television follows the exploits of Walter Blanco – A chemistry teacher who becomes a methamphetamine cook.
The new show is called Metastasis and the cast includes Diego Trujillo (El Capo) as Walter Blanco; Roberto Urbina (Che: Part 1) as Walter’s accomplice, Jose Miguel Rosas; Sandra Reyes (El Cartel) as Walter’s wife, Cielo; and Julian Arango (El Cartel) as Walter’s brother-in-law and Colombian narcotics agent, Henry Navarro.
Breaking Bad creator, Vince Gilligan, has been consulted to ensure the show is true to its source.
“Breaking Bad is a fantastic series that wasn’t widely seen in Latin America, partly because cable doesn’t yet have full penetration in the region,” says Angelica Guerra, SPT senior vp and managing director of production for Latin America and the U.S. Hispanic market. “[But] there is a universality to the story and its characters that we recognized could work very well.”
There will be some differences “Motor homes are not popular in Colombia,” said Guerra “so audiences will see Walter and Jose cooking up their first several batches of methamphetamine in an old, barely drivable school bus.”
