Starship Troopers remake moves forward. Would you like to know more?

Starship Troopers

Paul Verhoeven‘s 1997 adaptation of Robert Heinlein’s Starship Troopers was a great little sci-fi movie that mixed up the good looking cast with a healthy dose of satire and giant bugs. It was then followed by a few sequels which we will not talk about as they were not very good.

When Verhoeven’s version came out there was lots of wailing and gnashing of teeth that it was not more faithful to the original novel and did not even have the super cool power armour. It sounds like the planned remake will sort that out.

Screenwrite Zack Stentz has been talking about his take on the material for the remake. It will be “less a satire & more an actual adaptation of the Heinlein novel.” Then he gave it a sort of tagline, An Officer & A Gentleman in power armour.”

The funny thing is, over the years the 1997 film has developed a cult following so fans of the film may not be happy going back to the source material.
